ok go’s latest video clip ‘this too shall pass’ (which premiered last monday night on youtube) presented a perverse fascination of the complexity in systems.

the clip was based around a rube goldberg machine (RGM) narrative in which complex machines deliver outstandingly simple results.  the choreography of the RGM (documented through moving image) took the one camera, one take approach and accumulated two days (approximately 60 takes) to complete the unbroken flow of images – not to mention the many months to engineer the RGM.

While we’re on the subject, we though we’d also include one of our favourite WARP artist’s (venetian snares) remix of sesame street’s more interesting frames on a complex linear system.
