particle engine components

here’s a few screenshots from the latest development of the grasshopper3d particle engine.

the engine is to be structured as:

particle type :
{normal; object instanced}, {self collision), {particle; strand; reactor {death; collision; relational}}

emitter type :
{point; plane; object {face; vertices; edges}; volume}

emitter attributes:
{physics {none; newtonian; keyed; boid; equation}}, {vector {direction; velocity}},{birth rate},{lifespan}

spatial modifier:
{harmonic; magnetic field; turbulence; gravity}

object constraints:
{collision; constraint; parametric attraction}

at present we have mapped out the organization of the particle engine and have started developing our own components – still a lot of work to be done (on the icons!) as well as reducing the amount of inputs via input options and associative components. eduardo and i have been discussing this week on the potential of digitally fabricating ‘organic’ furniture from the particle experiments – could be pretty interesting?

in the coming few weeks we hope to publish the components for testing but (as usual) a lot more needs to be developed > so… in the interim. > stay tuned (downloads will be available soon).

    Your project looks interesting for me, especially the “turbulence” cached me.
    Have you embed some solver for Navier-Stokes Equation? If so, I guess this project would make rhino near to maya at least.

    Looks really cool! When are you going to release it?

    the p-engine development has just started again as we port the code to rhino common… so hopefully we get some time in the coming weeks to publish the ufo.rha component which will include a number of utilities as well as the p-engine block.
