love lace

the other day mr tim manning pointed us towards the work of janet echelman and her ephemeral large scale lace sculptures which, coincidently reminded us that the love lace exhibition is on at the powerhouse museum in july. we are also excited at the prospect of seeing interactive lacework by supermanouvre which, they have used parts of for an elective studio at rmit entitled protoformation.

    I have been following the work of Janet Echelman for some time now and “1.26″, the piece in your photos, is my personal favorite. She recently gave a TED Talk about her work and her life as an artist which you can see at http://www.ted.com/talks/janet_echelman.html
