pyramiddd (medicine) 7″
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009the news is out… our second most favourite band out of portland oregan* starf*cker has officially changed their name after a year long hassle of bookers refusing to put them up for international gigs. the band put the word out among the fans and after much debate, the more respectable ‘pyramiddd’ has replaced the former handle.
to launch their new tag, pyramiddd have released a 7″ – ‘medicine’ which is taken from the band’s ‘jupiter’ ep and is a golden nugget of shimmering neon polka pop. the track is based around mellow disco beats and synthetic melodies and sounds like a mix of pet shop boys, saint etienne and late 70’s vienna fairground at christmas.
currently the ep is only available from rough trade shops in the uk, however, it will be available in the coming weeks through itunes.

we’re pretty excited at our early christmas present from the sydney museum of contemporary art at circular quay. yes that’s right, it’s our favourite danish artist olafur eliasson (excl. who made who) will be exhibiting a body of work from december ‘09 to april ‘10.
i was lucky to have experienced olafur’s magical “weather project” at london’s tate gallery in 2006, where his phenomelogical effect of affecting light and space through immateriality transfomed the cold wintery industrial hall of the tate modern into a permanently warm autumn sunset. from light-filled environments to walk-in kaleidoscopes, eliasson’s unique, experiential works explore the intersection between nature and science, and the boundary between the organic and the artificial.
take your time: olafur eliasson
