urban future (au) were recently invited to participate in architectura 21 – a map of young architecture practices with portuguese links. luckily, being an international practice, we had one to deliver. the article profiles the tri-wall, a collaboration between the offices of urban future , studio wsh and the university of technology sydney (mda Lab) which featured as the interior space for the transcapes / artificial nature exhibition launched at the uts gallery, sydney.

the steel framing of the palm beach (queensland) project has now been finished with the topping out of the structure scheduled for next week whilst the construction period is expected to complete by early august.

the slide house construcion has now completed the slab and first floor masonry stage. we have just been sent the fabrication drawings including which illustrates the large webbing beam that supports the eastern length of the house. click the image to view the design of the project…

carlo aiello’s genetic housing project looks at the development of rules of interaction between differential mathematical systems to create genetic architecture. Different regimes of organisation are studied and translated into architectural landguage. traditional weaving methods are used to interlock different programme. lindenmayer rules are applied to develop systems of self-organisation. the interaction of both systems generates an urban housing concept, a cohesive organism that adapts itself to programmatic, climatic, contextural, economic and social conditions. the veiled house in surry hills is in the final weeks of construction certificate.
the project proposes an entire redevelopment of a two storey terrace, adding an additional level + ground floor rear extension. an 8m high x 2.5m metre wide black anodised laser cut screen is proposed to veil the entire infill section (entry) of the house which we conceived to be of a highly decorative but light articulation.
